Evolution of a Logo / Mascot
Logo / Mascot Design -- Step 1
At the beginning of each logo / mascot there is a blank sheet which has to be filled. Regardless if it is more type-design or mascot-design, I start by sketching out some ideas. These I present to the client. After getting some feedback, step two follows.
Logo / Mascot Design -- Step 2
I draw a cleaner, more aesthetic and detailed version of the design which the client selected. It has to appeal and impress… At this stage I still draw with the pencil, nothing digital yet.
Logo / Mascot Design -- Step 3
If the client likes what he has seen, this is the point for me to switch to digital tools. I design a layout with color and improve Step2 as long as it looks good in the digital world, too – you should not underestimate the difference in visual appearance. A sketch with pencil may look good on paper, but designed with vectors and paths (digitalized it’s a whole different story.)
Logo / Mascot Design -- Step 4
If the client wishes to implement some effects into the finished logo — I do so. Once the approved logo is digitalized, a wide variation of further effects can be applied.
